Used in the nursery industry for several functions such as tying wire
tree baskets, securing limbs for shipment, etc. Available treated or
natural as 1-ply, 2-ply, 3-ply, 4-ply or more. Commonly sold by the box
or bale (10 boxes/bale) or in 50 lb. reels. Many end reels are also
available in 1-ply, 2-ply or 3-ply. Sisal binder and baler twine is also
available.
Traditionally, sisal has been the leading material for natural fiber products because of its strength, durability, ability to stretch, affinity for certain dyestuff, and resistance to deterioration in saltwater.
